A century of labour turnover research: A systematic literature review

Labour turnover has been an important research topic in social science over the past century, involving disciplines such as human resource management, industrial relations, organizational behaviour, individual and psychology, economics health sciences. This paper presents a systematic literature review of voluntary labour turnover, providing in-depth analysis 1375 studies published up to July 2019 142 academic journals listed Chartered Association Business Schools Academic Journal Guide 2018. The theoretical empirical reveals: (1) distinctive foci development hundred years; (2) relative lack attention testing specific theories; (3) prevailing quantitative approach identifying antecedents turnover; (4) increased reliance on intention proxy for actual turnover. highlights these trends time, insight into problematic areas from theoretical, methodological points view. We suggest avenues more productive route coherent research.
